Investment Management

Our parent Stolper & Company has been investing client assets since 1975. We have a long history of identifying successful long-term investment managers. Our investment management services include investment management, asset allocation,
rebalancing, and ongoing monitoring.

Investment Philosophy

Simplicity

As the world has stampeded toward complexity, we find our clients embrace clarity and simplicity. A vast majority of the investments we utilize for clients are traditional equity and fixed income mutual funds and ETFs, and US Treasuries.

Active Management

We believe that through rigorous research, we can identify investment managers that can outperform their respective benchmark over the long-run on a risk-adjusted basis.

Long-Term Holders

We do not try to time the market as we believe that emotional or ego-driven decision making leads to underperformance over the long-term.

Investment Process

Asset Allocation

We use a collaborative approach with our clients that seeks to manage both risk capacity and risk tolerance.

Risk Capacity

We analyze your individual cash needs relative to your wealth and time horizon to determine how much risk we believe that you can take.

Risk Tolerance

A subjective analysis of an individual or family’s willingness to take risk.

When portfolio-level risk is the lesser of risk capacity or risk tolerance, we have achieved the optimal balance of high returns and low client anxiety. We will seek to achieve that optimal level of risk through the right balance of equities and fixed income, and the individual investments within.

Manager Selection

We have access to institutional quality active money managers at an attractive cost relative to many options available to retail investors. Given our scale and research advantage, we strive to identify managers that can outperform their respective benchmarks over the long-term. We seek to identify managers which have all of the following characteristics:

Sound Philosophy

The manager has identified a compelling thesis about which stocks will outperform a given universe.

Strong Performance

The history of the fund has demonstrated that it outperforms its benchmark over a relevant period.

Repeatable Process

The manager has created a consistent process that can identify individual stocks that adhere to its philosophy.

Appropriate Risk

The risk (measured through beta, tracking error, and standard deviation) is consistent with what we would expect for the given style of money management and fits your risk tolerance.

Low Fees

The expense ratio of a fund is a drag on performance. We prefer funds that have an expense ratio in the bottom half of their peer group.

Our team is focused on identifying managers that fit these criteria as we believe that they have the greatest chance to outperform benchmark returns in the future.
